CONNAUGHT PLACE AT NIGHT

(Dedicated to the magical looking glass of my friend Nishant Kumar Rishu)
The night spreads
Its wings all over
The grand thoroughfare
Like an albatross resting
At its dark prominence

Pillars are the
Overarching countenance,
And footfalls, the flutters of
Its wings, creating
An aura of subdued mellifluence

Pro-Changers

'time keeps changing
the face of our ambiance, and
the shape of things
it encapsulate,
but the pace of change, it seems,
has accelerated
over the past some years,
more than ever before…
I have learnt this while
watching Ajay Devgan’s Phool aur Kaante on
Zee Classic …’
my brother says, and
we have a boisterous laugh, as
we curiously begin to look for
more instances of this
‘acceleration’ in change
brought about
by the unstoppable wheels of
time…

AN UNADULTERATED TAKE

haikus,
ballads,
limericks,
doggerels,
odes,
dirges,
formes fixes,
rondeaux,
epistles,
elegies……. I have got
an interesting bunch of
companions to confide in,
and to share my dreams with

dear,I hope
you won’t mind me
staying away
and listening to them,
instead of putting up with
your boring love stories, sagas of
your jejune exploits,
your inflated self-assertion,
your monumental monotonies,
your cadaverous complacence,
your pontifical bombasts
that have structured
much of my virtual tryst with life
so far

IMPASSE

The red goes…!

blunted fury

hollers in the

woods, tracing

words, stuck in

a sulfuric haze ,

inchoate gestures

in the mist, gray

riddles blaring

through an abstruse

interlude  after

the loss of fire

in the wings

EXISTENTIAL ARITHMETIC

“Fill in the blanks with
Politically correct emotions----
Anger,
Hatred,
Love,
Excitement,
Disgust,
Fear,
Intrepidity…..”

aided by a scribe’s
tutored aptitude, I
read the rubric preceding
a set of
objective questions, and
start following the instruction,
to solve them on
a blank sheet of life

WILL O' THE WISP

autumn wears a
gown of bristles, clawing
tendrils across stretches of
wet isolation, enchanted tulips,
a crush with marauding passion,
plastic distances dissolving
darkness, passage to the
grooves of hibernation in the
coppices of a winter night
will o’ the wisp….!
tiny droplets of light
fall on faces, caught up
into a blind alley of
curious excitement
